I believe that art contains a language that has no words. It is a universal language that each one of us understands on a subconscious level. Painting is my way of saying something I have no other way of expressing.
I think art should be a celebration of seeing. It should invite the viewer to participate in how I saw or felt about something. It should be uplifting and life affirming and, above all, beautiful. Every object I choose has affected me in some way. It might be a treasured personal, object or a landscape I have walked on and loved, or a house that has caused a deep reaction. It might be the way the light plays across a full-blown rose, or that beautiful, luscious color that lies in the shadows on a piece of satin.
If I can communicate these things by coordinating my mind and hand, then I have achieved success. If I can present the viewer with a new way of seeing, then I have truly achieved success
